  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • â…“ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • ½ cup ketchup (plus more for topping, optional)
  • 28 oz bag frozen tater tots
  • Optional garnishes: fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, soy sauce or balsamic vinegar, salt, black pepper, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and ketchup. Mix until well combined.
  3. Spread the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish and evenly press it down.
  4. Arrange frozen tater tots on top of the meat mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes or until fully cooked and tater tots are golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle remaining cheese over tater tots and return to oven for another 5–7 minutes until melted.
  7. Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing; garnish with parsley if desired.
