Ingredients

  • as needed rice paper wrappers
  • as needed fresh vegetables (lettuce, carrots, cucumbers)
  • as needed fresh herbs (mint, cilantro)
  • as needed cooked shrimp or tofu
  • as needed vermicelli noodles (optional)
  • to taste soy sauce or tamari
  • to taste lime juice
  • to taste chili flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your filling ingredients. Wash and slice your vegetables into thin strips for easy rolling. If using shrimp or tofu, ensure they are pre-cooked and ready to go.
  2. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Take one rice paper wrapper and submerge it in the water for about 10 seconds until it becomes soft but not overly mushy.
  3. Lay the softened rice paper on a clean surface. Place a small amount of lettuce followed by your choice of vegetables, herbs, and protein in the center. Fold in the sides first and then roll from bottom to top tightly but gently.
  4. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce (or tamari), lime juice, and optional chili flakes. Whisk until well mixed.
  5. Once all your rolls are assembled, serve them immediately alongside your dipping sauce.
