Mash the overripe bananas in a small bowl until smooth.
Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then fold in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the wet ingredients and fold until just combined.
Fold in three-fourths of the chocolate chips into the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
