Method
Prepare the Beef Mixture
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk until well combined. If using, add the frozen mixed vegetables and mix well.
Assemble the Casserole
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in a greased casserole dish.
- Arrange the tater tots on top of the beef mixture in a single layer.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
