Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats: A Sweet & Salty Indulgence

Ingredients
  

Rice Krispie Treat Base
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies
  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 package marshmallows 10 oz
Salted Caramel
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt or to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Caramel
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.
  2. Remove from heat and carefully add the butter, stirring until melted and combined.
  3. Slowly add the heavy cream while stirring, then add the sea salt to taste. Set aside to cool slightly.
Make the Rice Krispie Treats
  1. In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter over low heat in a saucepan.
  2. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies until well coated.
  4. Pour half of the Rice Krispie mixture into a greased 9x9 inch baking dish, pressing down firmly.
  5. Drizzle half of the salted caramel over the mixture, then add the remaining Rice Krispie mixture on top.
  6. Press down firmly again and drizzle the remaining salted caramel over the top.
  7. Let cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes
